Some love them, others fear them: legendary ski slopes – beautiful and dangerous at the same time. Famous for their numerous races, they still have a unique attraction and draw for winter sports enthusiasts.

At the top of the list is the most daring descent of all, the “Streif“ in Kitzbühel with its “mousetrap passage“. The steep slope with an 85 percent gradient poses a very special challenge to skiers with a sharp left curve before the guard rails, breathtaking speed and extreme centrifugal force. Every year the Streif tests international skiers who take part in the world famous “Hahnenkamm” race to their limits.

A list of the most challenging pistes would not be complete without the ”Lauberhorn“ in Wengen (Switzerland), the “Saslong“ descent in Gröden (South Tyrol), the “Birds of Prey“ in North America (Beaver Creek, Colorado) or the “Harakiri“ slope in Zillertal (Austria).
